When talking about classroom culture, I found the teacher was a bit egocentric in talking about the culture as defined by themselves rather than something which might be co-constructed with the children young people

The word science coming from its Latin route really means to know or to understand which is a better definition than is often used in terms of the science of learning which is itself quite a woolly expression.

Talking about taking as an art or science it’s important to define these terms carefully. Often science is used badly in education educational research discourse and used to mean a methodological approach rooted in positivism. It’s a pity that Andrew Pollard work was not referenced when he talks about teaching as art craft and science.
