Talking about teaching as an art or a science it’s important to find these terms carefully. Andrew Pollard’s work is particularly pertinent here and it was a pity not to hear him referenced during this discussion.

Also need to be careful here about what we mean by the word science this is often loosely defined. The etymological route is from the Latin scienta which could be loosely translated as to know. Often the word science is used in educational research discourse to mean something positivistic.

Interesting stuff here and the idea of a classroom culture is important, though we have to be careful that is not something that is imposed but co-created with the CYP.
